CLIENT UPDATE - COVID-19
4/8/2020 update
Level 5 social distancing protocols are in effect for all employees: The following changes are in effect to help minimize employee contact and exposure with any potential carriers of viruses. Our goal is to keep employees safe and the public at large.
- SOR is providing 4 weeks of daily boxed catered lunches for all technicians. The purpose is to remove the need for technicians to go to drive throughs or other shops where they might risk exposure.
- Lead techs come to the warehouse on a staggered schedule, practice social distancing, collect their materials and equipment for the day, grab their own lunch and one for their associate tech, load the truck, and drive to the job site.
- Associate and floating technicians no longer ride with Lead technicians in the same vehicle. Instead, they will meet on the job site (SOR is paying a weekly gas subsidy to help counteract the slightly increased drive distances for some over driving to the warehouse and riding to the job sites).
- Social distancing is in effect for all crews: no breaks together in the truck, no riding in the truck together, eat, work, and speak 6+ feet apart. Should a resident wish to ask a question, technicians are to stay back 6+ feet and encourage them to call instead if on-site communications outdoors should risk violating any social distancing rules.
- All technicians are able to clock in remotely via their mobile app. This prevents people touching the same ipad at the warehouse and prevents congregating for the few employees that still come to the warehouse.
- Additional sick leave and call out policies are in place to assist with encouraging employees not to try to work if they might be ill. Any employee who does fall ill will need written clearance from HR prior to returning to work so as not to risk other employees' health or anyone else's.
- All employees have been provided sanitizing kits with diluted bleach spray bottles. Additional options with microfiber towels and diluted bleach in ziploc bags are available.
- Parking of trucks at the warehouse has been drastically spread out over 4x the former area to allow for additional distance should drivers arrive or leave at the same time.
- Cloth masks were ordered as soon as we found them available - ETA April 24-25. Until then, the single use masks and the wrap style cloth masks are all the Company has found available to provide. Employees who own their own masks are welcome to use them as well.
- Additional hand sanitizer ordered but delayed. Lysol/ clorox wipes still available, plus soap and water on the trucks, plus sanitizing kits should be used frequently.
- All previous protocols are still in place in addition to those above. Levels 1 through 4 must still be followed just as closely as new protocols in level 5. Hand washing, staying at least 6 feet apart, not reporting to work if feeling ill or suspecting exposure, corporate team members working remotely, etc. are all still fully in effect.
3/26/2020 update
Level 4 social distancing is in effect. Employee team size has been further reduced. Most employees are clocking in remotely and driving their own vehicles. Wake County, Durham, and other municipalities have issued "Stay at Home" orders and have deemed our services exempt, due to the tasks we're performing (sanitization, maintenance, renovations), and the method in which we perform them (outdoors and without face-to-face interaction). Our technicians have been briefed on these regulations by memo and video and are educated on the restrictions they must abide by.
3/20/2020 update
Level 3 social distancing is in effect. Employees were notified of new restrictions that have reduced the number of employees in a shared space. For example, instead of both members of a team meeting at the warehouse and riding to a job site together, the Lead Technician will ready the truck at the warehouse and the Associate Tech will drive separately from home to the job site. The start time for the few remaining employees entering the warehouse has been staggered by changing our protocol from "be at the warehouse at 7 AM" to "be on the job site at a specified time and leave from the warehouse in time to arrive then".
We want to keep sanitizing outdoor spaces and serving clients as long as it is safe to do so (and as long as there is not a recommendation or order from the city, county, state, or federal government asking that we do not). But we will only do so if we can keep our employees safe. Our crews work outside and not in close proximity to one another.
We will continue to update this page as circumstances change.

3/16/2020 update
Southern Outdoor Restoration cares deeply for the health and well-being of our employees and being a good citizen of our community.
As an organization that serves you, your residents, your tenants, your owners, and your boards, we would like to share an update on the upcoming projects and needs for the services that we provide in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.
We are taking the following measures to do our part in this uncertain time:
- Office employees will be working from home starting March 16th.
- Operations Team members will only be working on job sites if they are symptom-free and in teams of three (3) or fewer.
- Additional sanitization measures are being taken on equipment, vehicles, and warehouse facilities.
- Our mildewcide solution (sodium hypochlorite and a pH neutral surfactant) that we use in our home/building pressure washing process is the same product being used in China to disinfect outdoor spaces. Should work for local municipalities compete with private sector clients for our operational capacity, we will consult with you on rescheduling needs in real time.
For the sake of our employees and their families as well as our customers, we will be continuing with projects as scheduled. We will be making investments to continue to provide our services safely and without interruption. Our company is run by our Core Values (see below) and we will continue to lean on those convictions as we navigate this situation.
Please see these links to information from the EPA and CDC regarding chemicals and processes known to be effective in curbing the transmission of the coronavirus:

OUR PROCESS AND DETERGENTS/ CHEMICALS
Our process is a low-pressure, soft wash process for siding and uses a detergent to clean rather than relying on high pressure. The detergent is comprised of a .8% chlorine bleach solution along with a pH neutral soap, which combines with water to provide excellent results.
After applying the detergent solution, our technicians thoroughly rinse all surfaces with fresh water. If you would like to view the Material Safety Data Sheets, you can download them here.
